Buy vinyl boards: compact cruisers for the city
Vinyl boards are short skateboards with a plastic deck. They are lightweight, fit in your backpack or under your arm and are therefore ideal for short journeys, the way to school or as a complement to bus and train. Ride feel and uses
Thanks to the short deck, vinyl boards respond very directly and are easy to steer in tight spaces. The comparatively soft wheels absorb bumps on pavements and cycle paths. They are less suited to tricks such as ollies or grinds; Classic Skateboards are better for that. If you want to cruise calmly over longer distances, a Longboard is more relaxed, as it runs more stably at higher speeds.
Tips for getting started
- Place your front foot over the front truck to keep the board stable.
- Practise braking and stepping off on a flat, open area first.
