Cleaning Bearings
The bearings are one of the key components of an inline skate. Alongside inline wheels and frames, a lot depends on the bearings and their maintenance to guarantee speed and smooth running. The video from Rollerblade shows step by step how you can clean your bearings professionally and without much effort, so that you can enjoy roller sports again!
To clean your bearings professionally, carry out the steps in the video as follows:
- Remove the wheels from the frame using the tool supplied
- Place the removed wheels and screws on a clean paper towel
- Now wipe the dirt off the bearings with a dry, clean cloth
- Clean the axles
- Clean the inside of the inline frame (especially the spacers)
- Hold the wheels between your thumb and index finger and spin them
- When the inline wheels spin freely, apply 2 drops of oil (e.g. SKF inline oil or bearing cleaner from Powerslide) to the side of the bearing
- Carry out these steps for all the wheels of the skate
- The cleaned bearings can now be refitted to the skate's frame
- Now you're rolling again in roller sports!
